Making an Investment in Art

I had always heard that a piece of art was an “investment” and I had always thought the buyer was the person making the investment. It wasn’t until I began to paint did I learn that the artist, too, makes a great investment.

Each piece I create is a labor of love. I obsess over the subject, the proportions, the colors, the strokes, the textures – often putting many hours, days or even weeks into a single piece. It is not unusual to find me working way into the wee hours of the morning. It is a passion in which I make my unique imprint in the hopes that I will later discover the one person who sees my work – and all that it embodies – and they choose to make the investment with me. And then my art becomes even more – it becomes a special connection with someone who will take it home or to their office or bring it to a friend or loved one to share – and my passion will be in their lives for many years to come. This is why I create.
